THE LEGACY CONTINUES
Dating back to 1932, Nissan’s longstanding heritage in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market has given us a global reputation for innovation and quality that today has resulted in South Africa’s most comprehensive LCV line-up. This was highlighted by our previous half-ton bakkie, a living legend. Highly versatile and functional, it proved to be the most hardworking and affordable half-tonner on the market. The Nissan NP200 range picks up where its predecessor left off, bringing a modern edge and youthful energy to our rugged and versatile line-up.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?
I’D LIKE TO
PRACTICAL AND VERSATILE
High-quality aesthetics provide the luxury and styling of a passenger vehicle, without compromising on the practicality and versatility that’s consistent with a bakkie. Available driver-friendly features include an aircon, CD/MP3 audio system, power windows and door locks, and a slide-opening rear window.
The NP200 boasts the largest interior cabin space in its class, along with plenty of versatile storage options so you can take everything you need along for the ride.
STORAGE TO SPARE
A PLACE FOR ALL YOUR THINGS
Storage areas such as the glove box, door bins and drink holders under the central console are logically arranged, so everyday items are always within easy reach. The NP200 also offers a full 300 litres of storage space behind the seats to accommodate anything else you might need for a weekend getaway.
RUGGED AND MODERN
The NP200 projects a no-nonsense attitude, effortlessly combining practical ruggedness with modern flair.
A LARGER LOAD BOX
ROOM TO HAUL
Offering class-leading payload, volume and length, the NP200’s load box can handle nearly anything you can dish out. Plus, its specially designed tailgate can handle up to 300 kg – a feature usually reserved for much larger bakkies.
TAKE A LOAD OFF
Like its predecessor, the NP200 is built for the best possible load-carrying performance. That’s why it features the biggest payload in its segment, 800kg along with the segment’s biggest load box volume at 1.26m³. You even get a rubberised surface as standard equipment.
RAISE THE BAR ON SAFETY
The available cab protector roll bar not only provides the NP200 an added dimension of safety, it also gives it a tougher, ready-for-anything look. You can also use the roll bar for additional tie-down points to help secure your cargo.
The Nissan Safety Shield philosophy is a comprehensive approach to safety that guides the engineering and development of every vehicle we make. We help protect you and your passengers by focusing on three key areas: keeping an eye on your vehicle’s systems, assisting in handling unexpected situations, and helping to keep you safe in the unfortunate event of an accident.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEMS
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps prevent wheel lockup by pumping the brakes faster than you ever could during sudden-braking situations, helping you steer around obstacles to avoid a collision.
The interior restraint system includes 3-point seatbelts, while impact-absorbent material in the doors, dashboard and underfoot provide hip and limb protection. And with dual airbags even on some entry grade models, the Nissan NP200 range offers the highest levels of safety.
The NP200 looks great, but not to thieves. That’s because we gave it an anti-theft system that uses a chip embedded in the key, which triggers a unique starting code that lets your vehicle know it’s you. So you can rest assured your NP200 will be right where you left it.
CHOICE OF ENGINES
EFFICIENCY AND POWER TO PERFORM
With three engine choices – an 8-valve petrol engine, 16-valve petrol engine, or our standard-setting K9K turbo diesel – the NP200 delivers the power you need to get the job done.
8-VALVE PETROL ENGINE
This 1.6-litre inline 4-cylinder engine features multipoint fuel injection for 64kW of power and 128Nm of load-hauling torque. And at 8.1 litres/100km, it’s fuel efficient, too.
16-VALVE PETROL ENGINE
By adding an extra 2 valves per cylinder for better breathing and greater RPM range, this 4-cylinder engine gives you more power and torque, up to 77kW and 148Nm, from the same 1.6 litres. You also get just a bit more fuel efficiency: 8.0 litres/100km.
K9K TURBO DIESEL ENGINE
For the ultimate in load-hauling, stump-pulling torque, look no further than the 1.5-litre K9K dCi turbo diesel engine. With 63kW of power and a whopping 200Nm of torque, it has the muscle you need to get the job done. Yet all that might comes with fuel-sipping efficiency: just 5.3 litres/100km.
5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION
Power, control and efficiency are in the palm of your hand with the NP200’s 5-speed manual transmission. Short gear ratios for the first three gears offer impressive acceleration at low speeds and when fully loaded, while taller ratios in the top gears provide added fuel efficiency.
DESIGNED FOR THE ROAD AND THE HAUL
When it comes to bakkies, a leaf-sprung rear suspension setup is best since it provides optimum loadability. But since traditional live-axle leaf springs tend to reduce ride quality – especially while carrying a load – we gave it a coilspring-supported H-shaped torsion bar at the back end, giving it a supple ride that beats rival bakkies.
